The Effect of Giving a Mixture of Tuak and Arilus Durian (Durio Zibethinus Murr.) Against the Hepar Histology and the Leukocyte Value of Mice (Mus Musculus L.) Male

Introduction

Tuak, a fermented drink derived from palm sap, contains about 4% alcohol. This study aims to investigate the effect of giving a mixture of tuak and arilus durian (Durio Zibethinus Murr.) on liver histology and leukocyte values in male mice (Mus Musculus L.). The study employed a Complete Randomized Design (RAL) with four treatments and seven replications. The treatments consisted of controls (K0) given aquades, P1 given wine, P2 given Arilus durian mixed with distilled water, and P3 that gets a mixture of tuak and arilus durian. Each treatment was given as much as 0.3 ml.

Materials and Methods

The preparation of the liver organs was carried out using the paraffin block and coloring method with Hematoxylin erlich-eosin (HE). Furthermore, leukocyte analysis was carried out using an automated hematology analyzer tool that works based on the principle of flow cytometry. The results showed that the histology of the level of hepatocyte damage and the basophil value did not show a significant difference (P> 0.05) for hepatocyte damage. However, there are significant differences (p <0.05) in the basophil value. Meanwhile, there are significant differences (p <0.05) in the value of lymphocytes, neutrophils, eusinophils, and basophils between the control group and the treatment group.
