Effect of Price and Service Quality on Consumer Decisions Using PT Railink Medan Airport Train Services

Introduction

The transportation industry has experienced significant growth in recent years, with the demand for airport train services increasing rapidly. PT Railink Medan Airport Train is one of the leading airport train services in Medan, Indonesia, providing a convenient and efficient way for passengers to travel between the airport and the city center. However, the number of passengers using the PT Railink Medan airport train has changed over the years, and it is essential to understand the factors that influence consumer decisions in using the services of this airport train. This study aims to investigate the effect of price and service quality on consumer decisions using the PT Railink Medan airport train services.

Methodology

This study used a quantitative analysis method, involving 100 respondents who were randomly selected using accidental sampling. The data were collected through a survey questionnaire, which was designed to gather information on the respondents' perceptions of the price and service quality of the PT Railink Medan airport train. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 16.0 for Windows, and multiple linear analysis and hypothesis testing were conducted to reveal the effect of prices and quality of service on consumer decisions.

Results

The results of this study showed that price and service quality had a positive and significant influence on consumer decisions using the PT Railink Medan airport train services. This is proven through t-test and F test conducted. The Determination Coefficient Test (R2) shows the R Square value of 0.677, which means 67.7% of consumer decisions using airport train services can be explained by the price variable and service quality. The rest, 32.3%, is influenced by other factors not examined in this study.

PT Railink Medan needs to focus on improving the quality of service, including the convenience of the train, timeliness, and the friendliness of officers. This can be achieved by providing training to officers, improving train facilities, and improving information systems to facilitate access to information for passengers.

Based on the findings of this study, the following recommendations are made for PT Railink Medan:
