This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected from the announcement book of Lion Air flight attendants. The theory used for analysis was Molina and Albir's theories, which provide a framework for understanding various translation techniques. To analyze the data, researchers used analytical techniques developed by Miles and Huberman (1984), which prioritizes data organizing, data reduction, and data presentation clearly.

Translation Techniques

The results of this study showed that the most dominant translation technique in the announcement book of Lion Air flight attendants was a literal translation, with 21 events (30.43%). This technique is often used to maintain the accuracy and suitability of meaning in the official context of flight. The second most widely used technique was equivalent, with 11 events (15.94%). This technique focuses on transferring the same meaning in a different cultural context.

In addition to these two dominant techniques, other techniques used included amplification with 10 events (14.49%), reduction with 10 events (14.49%), and modulation with 6 events (8.69%). Meanwhile, generalization and loan were recorded with 6 events (8.69%) and 4 events (5.79%), respectively. There were also compensation and transposition techniques, each of which only appeared once (1.44%).

Cultural Nuances and Contexts

One of the interesting findings of this research was an expression in Indonesian that does not have a direct equivalent in English. This shows that there are cultural nuances and contexts that need to be considered in translation, especially in formal situations such as announcements on the aircraft.
