Introduction

Soil density is a critical factor that affects the growth of sugarcane plants. The compaction of soil due to tractor paths can interfere with the growth of plant roots, ultimately having a negative impact on crop production. This study aimed to analyze the effect of soil density due to tractor paths on sugarcane growth (Saccharum officinarum L.) with and without giving organic matter. The research was conducted by Muhammad Rifai and guided by Taufik Rizaldi.

Methodology

The method used in this study was a complete factorial random design with two fertilizer factors and four soil compaction treatments. There were six treatments, each repeated four times. The results of this study indicate that the level of soil density has increased, seen from the value of mass density and particle density, as well as a decrease in the value of soil porosity. This process occurs naturally during the plant growth phase and causes the soil to become more dense, which is indicated by the increase in soil penetration resistance.
