The Effect of Occupational Safety and Health Management System on Employee Performance at the Medan City Fire Prevention and Fighting Service

Introduction

The Medan City Fire Prevention and Fighting Service (DP2K) plays a crucial role in maintaining public safety and preventing fire disasters in the city. However, the effectiveness of DP2K's performance is often hindered by various obstacles, including the implementation of an Occupational Safety and Health Management System (K3). This study aims to investigate the impact of the K3 management system on employee performance at DP2K, with the ultimate goal of improving the service's overall performance.

Background

Occupational Safety and Health Management System (K3) is a continuous process that is applied in the activities of DP2K. The K3 management system is designed to ensure a safe and healthy work environment, minimize the risk of accidents and occupational diseases, and improve employee motivation and welfare. However, despite the importance of K3, there are still obstacles in its implementation that have an impact on employee performance. This study aims to reveal the effect of the K3 management system on the performance of DP2K employees in handling fire disasters.

Methodology

This study uses associative/quantitative methods with data collection techniques through the distribution of questionnaires and documentation. The data obtained was then analyzed using the SmartPLS (Partial Least Square) software version 3.3.2. The research sample consisted of 100 respondents from Medan City DP2K.

Results

The results of this study show the effect of the significance of the K3 management system on DP2K employee performance. This can be seen from the results of the path analysis test (path analysis) of 0.883 and the hypothesis test with a T-Statistic value of 47,581 which is greater than T-t-table 1.66.
