Methodology

This study employed a correlational research design to examine the relationship between the "Origin" program and the fulfillment of information needs about myths among the Sari Rejo Village community in Polonia District, Medan City. A total of 92 respondents were selected using a combination of proportional stratified sampling and purposive sampling techniques. The respondents were residents of Sari Rejo Village who had watched the "Origin" program at least twice and were aged 15 years and over.

Data Analysis

The data analysis was conducted using the Spearman's Rho Rank Order Correlations formula to determine the strength of the relationship between the "Origin" program and the fulfillment of information needs about myths. The results showed a very high, very strong, and reliable relationship between the two variables, with a correlation coefficient of R = 0.99.

Hypothesis Testing

The hypothesis test results using the T-Hitung formula also showed significant results, with a T-Hitung value of 69.5 greater than the value of T-tabel (1.99). This indicates that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, and it was confirmed that there is a significant relationship between the "Origin" variable as an independent variable and the "Meeting Information Needs about the myth" as dependent variable.

The results of this study highlight the importance of the role of television programs in meeting the needs of public information, especially about myths. The "Origin" program, with its unique and interesting format, is proven to be able to attract the attention of the public and provide information about myths that may not be known before.
