Introduction

Indonesia, the second largest producer of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) in the world, has a significant potential in the biogas industry. One of the main factors contributing to this potential is Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME), a liquid waste resulting from the oil palm processing process. POME has a high organic content that can be converted into biogas through the anaerobic fermentation process. The process of making biogas is carried out in thermophilic conditions using a recycled sludge by 34% through four tanks, namely the preparation tank, mixing tanks, bioreactors, and gravitational thickening tanks.

The parameters measured in this study include Total Solid (TS) and Volatile Solid (VS), pH, M-alkalinitas, and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD). The quality of mixing will be evaluated by comparing TS and VS data from the tank of mixing or static in-line mixing with theoretical data obtained from regression analysis.

The study was conducted using a pilot-scale bioreactor, which was equipped with a static in-line mixer. The POME was fed into the bioreactor through the static in-line mixer, and the mixing process was evaluated using regression analysis.
