Introduction

Medan City, a city with a rich Eastern culture, is the backdrop for this qualitative research that explores the perception of the community towards free sex and pregnant teenagers out of wedlock. This study aims to provide a deeper understanding of the complex issues surrounding free sex and its consequences, particularly among adolescents in Medan City. The research utilizes a case study approach, incorporating various data sources to comprehensively reveal the various aspects of individuals and events. The cultural perception theory in intercultural communication and data triangulation techniques are employed to increase the validity of the research.

This qualitative research involved 12 main informants, comprising community leaders, psychologists, professors, teachers, and adolescents. Additionally, 3 more informants, who are teenagers pregnant out of wedlock, were included in the study.
